Cathrinesminde Brickworks

Cathrinesminde Brickworks is at once a well-preserved cultural milieu and an exciting museum scenically located near the beach of Iller Strand. The museum tells the vivid story of the brick industry which had a very strong impact on the area for more than 200 years. The fine local clay and the possibility of shipping the bricks gave rise to a number of brickworks. Cathrinesminde Brickworks is an extremely suitable option for the whole family.

Cathrinesminde is one of the very few remaining ring-kiln brickworks and has been designated as one of the most important Danish industrial milieus. You can explore the fine drying sheds with red-tiled roofs, inspect the large ring kiln from 1892 and the brickworks machinery, or travel back in time in the recreated workmen’s lodgings and learn about life in the small community around the brickworks.
